Compete for the title of Hog-Father and win $1,000!


3rd Annual Chicago Hogfight – hosted at Mahoney’s Pub & Grill on Sunday, September 4th, from 3-7pm, where some of Chicago’s best BBQ chefs, will battle it out for the title of “Hog-Father” – and $1,000 in prize money!  Part of the street will be closed off for the event at Ogden and Racine, where contestants will stage their smokers at the corner and put their stamp on a whole hog.  Guests can enjoy all-you-can-eat BBQ throughout the day, with the featured competition pigs being served at 5pm.


Participating Chefs

  • We will be providing Slagle Farm 80-100 lbs female pigs.
  • Chefs should pick them up from Mahoney’s on Saturday, September 3rd for dressing, marinade, etc.
  • Mahoney’s will be providing 6ft smokers for each Chef, or Chefs may bring their own rigs if they choose
  • Chefs are responsible for providing their own ingredients, cooking utensils/tools & cutlery, however charcoal will be provided
  • Each Chef should arrive at Mahoney’s Sunday, September 4th, to start grilling/smoking their pig by 7am.
  • The pigs should be ready to by 4pm, to be served at 5pm.
  • While we will be providing PR, we ask that each Chef/restaurant promote their Chef’s participation & tag Mahoney’s and Hog Fight in your promotion.

Cancellation or no show

In order to encourage active participation, we do require a credit card or check to be kept on file in case of cancellation 14 days or less prior to the event or no show. In case of no show or less than 14 day cancellation, you will be charged $100.


As if all-you-can-eat BBQ pork isn’t enough, 20% of the ticket price will benefit Variety Children’s Charity of Illinois, a local non-profit organization which provides services and funding for adaptive medical equipment [not covered by insurance] for children with disabilities.
